Video Interview

ASOBI SYSTEMDo You Want to Asobi?

January 30, 2013

You may have already recognized one or more of the artists in the pic above. But what single thread pulls them all together?

Welcome to the world of ASOBI SYSTEM. Talent agency and second family to all above, including superstar and Harajuku icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, prominent beat-maker RAM RIDER and the upcoming Natsuko Kondo, as well a host of other talent and Harajuku-kei models.

In commemoration of this special crew’s 5th year anniversary in show business, MTV 81 decided to invade their office on a recent Friday afternoon to talk with the people who are pretty much creating and guiding Harajuku culture today.

The word asobi in Japanese translates to “having fun” – after a visit to their office, which is of course in the  heart of Harajuku, we can’t think of a better name for the home of these fun-loving cultural leaders.

First, take a look at our exclusive long interview with the man behind the icons, one of the masterminds of modern Harajuku culture, Yusuke Nakagawa:

The King of Harajuku
